Kate Middleton wears many hats (or shall we say tiaras), and regardless of how much responsibility she fulfills, the Duchess of Cambridge is a totally fit, extraordinary icon. Kate Middleton, wife of Prince William and mother of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, always looks downright amazing. At 40 years old, this mom of three and role model to many prioritizes health by maintaining these impeccably fit lifestyle habits, and it shows. Keep reading to learn more.

When you are royalty, you have staff to help with many of life's details. But when it comes to taking care of your healthy diet and fitness choices, that's on you. Middleton has clearly prioritized and maintained a consistent exercise routine, including during pregnancy (with prenatal yoga and walks, according to Marie Claire). Her appearance in every single fashionable outfit she wears is a true testament. But that's not all. This Duchess enjoys cooking dinner for her own family and manages her own workouts without the help of a trainer, according to Daily Mail. (Okay, we're impressed, too!)

According to Daily Mail (via Women's Health), Middleton takes staying in shape very seriously, working out for one hour daily. It's said the Duchess of Cambridge runs frequently and performs crunches. For the hard stuff, she spends time lifting weights. She has a favorite type of exercise, which happens to be planks. "It tightens her muscles," a source reveals to Daily Mail. Middleton does three planks, specifically "the basic plank, the side plank, and the prone sky dive," a source tells Daily Mail.

We're not done quite yet. Middleton's fitness regimen is also sprinkled with cycling, rowing, a Swiss gym ball for ab work, and yoga, which is a welcomed de-stressor, calming tool, and core muscle/strength builder (via Marie Claire). CrossFit workouts are sometimes on deck, too, which utilize weights, resistance training, squats, and running (via Women's Health). This summer, Middleton even participated in the Great Britain Sail Grand Prix, rocking an official GBR wetsuit and all, according to People.6254a4d1642c605c54bf1cab17d50f1e

As far as her diet is concerned, Middleton has pretty much ditched most carbs and instead consumes plenty of lean proteins, fruits and veggies enriched with antioxidants, and healthy oils and fats. According to Marie Claire, Middleton has followed the Dukan Diet, which consists of lean protein, water, oat bran, and a daily walk for 20 minutes. It's based on reducing carbs to torch more fat.

Kate Middleton reportedly enjoys sipping smoothies in the mornings and afternoons. They contain kale, matcha, spirulina, blueberries, lettuce, spinach, and cilantro. A favorite treat of Middleton's is berries mixed up with almond milk, and she favors seasonal fruit, a source tells Daily Mail.

A sweet tidbit? Middleton enjoys cooking. Carolyn Robb, a British chef who worked at Kensington Palace for over 20 years, tells Racked, "Kate does quite a lot of the cooking … She comes from a normal background and a normal home where she's always cooked for herself. And what I've always heard is that William enjoys spending time with her family because they just eat together at the kitchen table like a normal family."

One of her favorite meals to prepare? Roast chicken. "In the evenings she indulges her hobby of cooking William's favorite supper, roast chicken," Katie Nicholl, Vanity Fair's royal correspondent writes, adding, "They are reported to own a sausage-maker, and she has started making homemade pots of fruit jam while her husband is at work."

According to People, the Duchess of Cambridge will be participating in a day of charity with a total tennis legend. This September, you'll find Middleton taking on the tennis court with Grand Slam 20-time winner, Roger Federer. The event will raise awareness and funds for two amazing causes Middleton cherishes very dearly, the LTA Foundation and Action for Children. On this day, children from East London, ages 8 to 15, will be able to embrace their tennis skills while hitting the court with Federer.

(Fun fact: Tennis is a sport both Kate Middleton and Prince William enjoy playing together!)
